Setting up the school should be done by K-12 Online. However, the academic session is required for all users who are using an API to connect to their SIS. The entry and exit date must be exact to what is in your SIS.
Since your SIS holds information from past sessions and possibly future sessions, setting the academic session each year is very important. The academic session allows the K-12 Online system to know which set of students to push and pull from. Without the proper academic session, you may experience issues with your student data.
Please note: Only ONE academic session can be Active per school. If you are working with two sessions at one time, you must change the status academic session each time you are pushing/pulling a new student.
The school and academic session is required to be set for each school at the DCP level.
Navigation: DCP > Schools > Manager
In the School edit page, insert the correct SIS School ID and School Number / Org Id.
Select the correct school academic year from the dropdown.
Save your data.
